Defensive Handgun I

September 14, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

$99

Ready to take the next steps toward being better able to defend yourself and your loved ones?

State handgun carry permit classes are important for helping students understand certain legal aspects, but this class covers what those classes often leave out: practical application and “know-how.”

Our “Defensive Handgun I” class will teach you primary skills you need to know to help you prevail in an armed, self-defense encounter. You’ll develop confidence in your gun handling and shooting, and have the opportunity to learn about, and immediately put into practice, the following:

  • Basic Firearms Safety
  • Draw from Holster
  • Shooting and Reloading
  • Clearing Malfunctions
  • Creating Distance from the Threat
  • Cover vs. Concealment
  • Shooting from Cover

Prerequisites: Because this class is not intended for brand new inexperienced shooters, you should already be familiar with the safe operation of your handgun and have had practice shooting it. If not, please sign up for our FREE class: Introduction to Handguns.

Materials needed: You will need to bring the following:

1) A handgun (semi-automatic pistol or revolver)

2) 300 – 400 rounds of ammunition in the proper caliber for your handgun; available for purchase at our range counter

3) A holster made specifically to fit your model handgun (NO small of the back carry, NO Blackhawk Serpa style holsters, NO nylon holsters) of sufficient quality to be able to repeatedly draw and re-holster with one hand. No holsters permitted where the firearm muzzle faces rearward, or if your draw would sweep other participants – Safety First!

4) Appendix carry may be allowed, but you must also bring with you a strong-side holster as well that meets the criteria above in-case the appendix carry holster and/or method is found to be unsuitable for class for any reason.

5) At least one extra mag and a magazine carrier

6) A belt suitable for support of holstered firearm that will allow for repeated drawing and safe re-holstering

7) Eye and ear protection; electronic ear protection works best for this class

8) Pen and paper for note-taking

9) A snack and a drink

Class Duration: 4 – 5 hours – all on the range!

Cost: $99
