In our Introduction to Handguns class, you’ll learn some of the most important basics of firearm safety, and how to properly hold, grip, sight, and shoot handguns.  Whether you are new to firearms, or perhaps you have already purchased a firearm, but just lack experience, this is the class for you!

A $10.00 fee for this class is to help ensure those who sign-up for class also show up for class.  With limited seating, we want to avoid turning away interested parties on account of a class appearing to be full based on sign-ups, only to then have “no-shows” who’ve cost others their chance to attend.  In exchange for the $10 for those who do attend, in addition to the content and benefits of the class itself, you will receive a FREE 1/2-hour range pass ($12.50 value) and a FREE gun rental ($10.00 value) for use at a future time (within 30-days of the class).

This is a serious subject matter for sure, but we keep it fun while you learn:

• Basic Firearms Safety
• Getting familiar with the parts and operation of handguns
• Holding, gripping, aiming, and trigger press
• Considerations of using a handgun

The second part of the course focuses on live fire in our climate-controlled indoor shooting range.

Here we will shoot .22 LR firearms that are great for beginners. Each participant will get to try!

To obtain an Enhanced Handgun Carry Permit in the State of Tennessee, you must complete an 8-hour handgun safety course offered by a handgun safety school certified by the Department of Safety, such as that offered by Buds Gun Shop & Range. The course includes both classroom and range (shooting proficiency) portions.

The Enhanced Handgun Carry Permit is Tennessee’s upper-tier permit that allows you to carry your handgun, open or concealed, in the greatest number of areas within the state. If you wish to travel outside of Tennessee, the Enhanced Handgun Carry Permit is also recognized by the greatest number of states within the U.S.

Our Enhanced Handgun Carry Class will explain where handguns may and may not be carried as well as the proper ways to transport your handgun, within and outside of the state. We cover the basics of Tennessee self-defense law and discuss various scenarios in which a person may be called upon to defend themselves or others. You will learn about a variety of handguns, their features, and ways to safely carry based upon those features. You will also learn the fundamentals of marksmanship to help you safely exercise your right of self-defense. Finally, we will explain the state’s application process and fee structure for obtaining your Enhanced Handgun Carry Permit once you have successfully completed our course.

First-time applicants, upon completing the class, will receive a $30.00 Gift Card to be applied to all in-store purchases at our Sevierville, TN location. In addition to using the Gift Card for store merchandise, you can use it for purchasing Shooting Range time, gun rentals and ammunition, or for additional classes to meet your training needs.

You are responsible for bringing your own firearm (iron sights only, no optics) and 50 rounds of ammunition. Rental handguns are available and ammunition is available for purchase. Please leave your firearms and ammunition locked in your vehicle until the classroom portion of the class is completed.
